10 MINUTE INTERVIEW

Roman Numeral X

I2G conducted a exclusive interview with 10 Minute. We discuss his new mixtape, The Resume, out now, and how it came together, his musical influences, and much more so check it out.

Illuminati 2G is here with 10 Minute how's it going?

Going good man, it's going good. It's crazy!

Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in music and who are some of your musical influences out there.

I got my jump off in New York, born and raised in Queens. Me and my homeboys were getting into rapping and doing freestyles over instrumentals. That was back in the purple tape era. My influences are all MCs, not the fabricated ones that try to act like they can rhyme. Niggas that really know how to rhyme and really know how to use their pen game. It is not just about the beat with me man, cats like Nas, Das EFX back in the day, Busta, Jigga, Common. I could keep going, KRS. There are so many I do not want to leave anyone off. Rakim, The whole Wu-Tang, M.O.P., Snoop, Ice.

How did you come up with name 10 Minute for yourself?

The name came up from a bunch of local rappers from around the hood. Everytime I be hanging out with them, I be hanging out all day and they leave 10 minutes after I get there. Or they be hanging out all day, I show up and they leave 10 minutes after I show up. So it just got to the point where they would say yo 10 Minute what up. It just stuck, you know playing around in the hood and ya homies give ya a name and it just sticks.

You just recently dropped your new mixtape, The Resume, which is a crazy mixtape. Tell me a little bit about it.

Appreciate that. The mixtape is my very first mixtape, I have never done a mixtape before. What I was trying to do with this mixtape is do something a little bit different. I know people always use other peoples instrumentals and stuff like that. But what I wanted to do was take all of the classic beats from the late 90's, early 2000, and what I wanted to do was put my spin on those beats. I feel like this is the way the song should have sounded if I was on it. Keep your hook, take your verse off and put me on it. That's all I did, one verse here and one verse there so you can put the cd in, press random and it will stop on one of your favorite tracks. Or you can play it from the beginning and you will hear them back to back. The listener will be happy either way. My man DJ Short-E did the mixtape, big ups to him.

You said earlier that you are on a video shoot. Do you have any plans of shooting any videos from the songs off the mixtape?

Yeah also what I am doing on the mixtape, I am trying to shoot 10 videos from the mixtape to go along with it. So that way you will have the audio and the visual. Right now I have 7 in the hole, I got 3 more to do. You can check them out at www.youtube.com/tenminute or you can check them out at my myspace, www.myspace.com/10minute.

Do you have plans of dropping a album or are you going to let the mixtape burn for a little bit?

I definitely plan on letting the mixtape burn for a little bit, but I do plan on dropping a album as so as I get signed. I am grinding hard to get my name out there and to get that buzz and I appreciate Illuminati 2G looking out for the kid. You can also check out my music on ITunes, I do have original music there as well. Just search the name 10 Minute and you will find me. I have material ready for my album but things got put to the backburner and I had to do the mixtape instead. I do have plans for that, it is just a matter of getting under the right umbrela with the right team.

What are your thoughts on the state of hip hop?

My personal thoughts on the state of hip hop is that I think I am falling back in love with it. For a minute to me it was saturated with non talented artists that was just getting lucky. But now I think it is making a full circle back to the lyrical content. If you look at all of the albums that have dropped in the last 3 or 4 months, all lyrical cats and it is still coming back to that. Even the songs that they are playing on the radio are starting to have more content and the songs are more then just a hook and a good beat. I am starting to feel energetic about it and ready to make a move.

Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates coming up that you want to let the people know about?

I do not have any upcoming shows because I am focusing solely on the mixtape. I am still pressing them up and I am doing my internet grind with that. Except for my videos that is the only thing I am working on right now.

Real quick once again, what is your myspace and website information for people looking to check out your music.

www.myspace.com/10minute. You can also go to www.tenminute.net, or www.10minute.net, either way. Or for the videos you can go to www.youtube.com/tenminute.

And then everyone can download the mixtape from those sites correct?

Yes the direct address is www.tenminute.net/mixtape.zip

Ok

What are your thoughts on the tape man?

I am loving the tape. It is real lyrical, I like how you picked different tracks and put your own spin on it. You are definitely spitting on every track, so anyone checking out this interview, pick up the mixtape. It is dope and I am definitely looking forward to anything you got coming up as far as other mixtapes or albums. That is why I asked you about other projects. I have been bumping it all week.

Appreciate that man. I am constantly recording stuff, like right now I am thinking about the next song I am going to do. I really appreciate that man.

Well that is all the questions I have for you, appreciate you getting down for the interview. Is there any last words or shoutouts you want to get out there to the people?

Big ups to my team, Treehouse Entertainment, big up Militant Military, big up the whole Lefrak City Queens NY, and 813 Tampa, Florida. I also want to give a shout out to my management, Diana. One more shout out, big ups to the company Digi Quest for supplying me all my content as far as cameras and stuff.

Appreciate the interview

Thanks alot.
