8.31.10: Astex Interview

Posted by D on August 31, 2010 at 3:37 PM Comments comments (0)

"We making the rounds in San Antonio so let the ciper continue. Enter the Astex, 1st group I performed with out there who are like the hometown heroes. Their CD's play like a movie, a mix of Clockwork Orange meets Parliament while tripping on Fear and Loathing in San Antonio but it's 2 Chicanos & a white guy who have been performing for years, always bring a crowd and get their travel on as well. I performed in Mexico City with Rel a couple of years and in fact almost every time I perform in San Antonio, it is with the Astex. These are some of the coolest guys in the world which is refreshing in a world of hip hop idiots. Hit these cats up on Myspace or Facebook." - Jehuniko

I was surprised to come across Sai's videos and not have seen them before. Sai is working with European producers, doing international shows, representing the Anti-Injustice Movement and working hard in regards to stop human trafficking. Consider Sai to be a threat to the greed structure and deserves all the promotion he can get because goes super hard, spits hard and brings forth truth in an world of lies.

8.19.10: New Audio From Burnz f/Willy Northpole "Crime"

Posted by D on August 19, 2010 at 10:51 PM Comments comments (0)

As Hip-Hop shifts into its next era and as current acts struggle to pacify veteran fans and the next generation, Burnz bridges the difference. Burnz vision extends past trying to create a catchy radio single as he pulls his inspiration from a wide variety of artists; including Redman, DMX, Nas, John Coltrane and Billie Holliday.

Displaying an honest, skillful and eager rap method, Burnz is an 80's baby who was born and raised in Phoenix , AZ and he is ready to unleash his debut, Talent 2 Burn, but before he does, he’ll first release a prequel Talent 2 Burn: The Prequel which features guest appearances from Cashis, Crooked I and Willy Northpole.

Burnz has already been featured at esteemed outlets such as Ozone Magazine, 2Dopeboyz.com, Hiphopdx.com and Yoraps.com (among others).

Talent 2 Burn: The Prequel will be available for free Download on 9-21-2010

Included is the first leak from Burnz’ Talent 2 Burn: The Prequel “Crime” f/Willy Northpole: http://www.mediafire.com/?q4bml376pyz8r0b

8.19.10: Bizzy Bone - New Album CrossRoads 2010 In Stores August 24th

Posted by D on August 19, 2010 at 10:37 PM Comments comments (0)

Sumerian Records has signed Grammy Award winning rapper and singer Bizzy Bone. Sumerian Founder Ash Avildsen had this to say:

"It's true and the album is incredible! Anyone who has closely followed the label knows that we have never been one dimensional in the bands we have signed and the records we have released. While we have been making a meaningful impact on the current state of heavy music, the true theme to Sumerian has always been about progressive music, not just metal. Bizzy Bone is one of the most progressive vocalists I have ever heard! Known in his genre for being the fastest yet the most melodic, the most technical yet the most harmonic, the marks Bizzy has left in music are something I will always love. The fact that Bizzy and Bone Thugs all booked one way Greyhound tickets to LA and lived on the streets until they were able to get discovered and signed is true artist dedication to their craft. This same spirit is something that has allowed many Sumerian bands to organically build their careers and achieve their dreams.”

Originally discovered by the legendary Eazy E when he was only a teenager, Bizzy Bone would go on to change the game forever with the multi platinum selling group Bone Thugs N Harmony. Never before had this hybrid of styles been accomplished in music, transcending the current styles of East Coast and West Coast hip-hop with their own "Midwest sound" that put Cleveland on the map like no other. Bizzy Bone is also one of the only people alive to make music with both Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G.; which is a true reflection of his unmatched diversity as a singer and rapper as well as universal love for his unique style.

Sumerian Records will be releasing “Crossroads 2010” on August 24th, 2010. The release is the most complete and polished album since the release of his critically acclaimed gold selling debut solo album “Heaven’z Movie” in 1998. “Crossroads 2010” is a fresh fusion of hip-hop and rock and features music written by Javier Reyes of Animals As Leaders with guest vocal appearances by Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, Jonny Craig of Emarosa, Devin Oliver of I See Stars and many more surprises. The Sphinx will not disappoint.

8.19.10: Skyzoo & !llmind Set to Release 'Live From The Tape Deck' on Oct 5th + Upcoming Mix CDs From Tek, Rock, Ruste Juxx

Posted by D on August 19, 2010 at 3:38 PM Comments comments (0)

A little after one year since releasing The Salvation, Skyzoo returns with a new album entitled Live From The Tape Deck, entirely produced by !llmind. Skyzoo, of Brooklyn, NY, has spent the last year promoting & touring off 'The Salvation,' completing separate nationwide tours with Ghostface Killah & Raekwon. His music has been featured in ESPN programming and most recently in an episode from the current season of Entourage.

Live From The Tape Deck is the perfect follow-up record for Skyzoo fans who are anxious for new material. Skyzoo says his goal while recording the album was " to make something that felt like a 2010 cassette tape. I wanted the content to be raw and lyric driven as always, but not as story driven or emotional as 'The Salvation'

was. There are still parts of the album that are stories and concepts, but not as much as my debut had. This one was more of a beats and rhymes type of album."

!llmind brings true validity as the sole producer for the album and helps provide a consistent sound throughout the project. !llmind is a sought after producer who has upcoming beat placements in albums such as Jared Evan (Interscope/Zone 4), Redman (Def Jam), Drunken Tiger & Yoonmirae (two multi-platinum artists from Korea) and more. !llmind is also being used in a publicity campaign by Akademiks where his photos will be placed in print ads across major Entertainment publications.

!llmind took a custom approach to the production for the album based on the concept of Live From The Tape Deck, explaining that he "wanted to keep the soundscape warm and 'analog' sounding, just like how 2 inch tapes used to sound. Most of the keyboard and synth sounds I used were from analog synths made in the late 80's. Combined this with using my ASR-10, I was able to capture that feeling, but with a slightly updated feel. I think our debut record, "Frisbees" was a cool way, sonically, to introduce the sound I was going for."

Skyzoo & !llmind secured features from artists that matched the Live From The Tape Deck concept. Skyzoo goes further saying, "I went to who I felt made sense for the records I put them on. For instance, when fans hear the track, "the burn notice", they'll agree that the beat, being chaotic and loud, had Heltah Skeltah written all over it."

Fans can watch the music video for "Frisbees" here: http://bit.ly/8ZftKc

A music video is currently in production for the lead track off the album, entitled "Speakers on Blast," which will premiere shortly.

Live From The Tape Deck is in stores October 5th on Duck Down Music Inc.
