In this digital age it has never been so easy to promote your material to a worldwide audience without the help of major record labels. Please believe me,its easy, but at the sametime, it aint easy. Simply because you have to invest so much time into connecting with people, building your new fanbase,interacting with your fans and investing into your promotion/advertisement. (nopun intended) Most artists make the mistake of posting their product online without going through the proper channels. Meaning: you just can't expect to  post your your stuff and think that it's so hot that a new fanbase will fall directly into your lap (overnight). LOL

Seriously, your product has to have the look, feel and potential of the average contender that's promoting online. So thats why it's so important to build your network base from the ground up. Networking with other artists is a great start. It give you the opportunity to talk to and connect with those who share the same interests as yourself. But it is not going to be the defining factor that would weigh in on your success. Along with networking,you have to make the internet work for you. What many people don't know about the internet is there is a whole different world operating behind the flashy text, blogs, videos and music. In that world, there's a different language being spoken. If you know the language, you can make the internet work for you.

For example, when you write a blog on a social network, you'll see the tags section. You would need to list your keywords that are related to your post,including your name. so when people google you, they'll see a list of discussions or blogs written by you. If you own a website, you should invest into Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is a complete analysis ofyour website content. Your keywords analysis will be compared to those of your competition and a list of suggested keywords will supplied. The closer your keywords match your content, the higher your Alexa score goes. The higher your Alexa score goes, the higher your search engine rank goes.

Search Engine Submission should also be an option. The reason why I say that is because when other websites link to your website, it will also cause your search engine rank to increase. How? When search engine websites crawl the web looking for content, they tend to put websites closer to the top of search engine results when their links appear more frequently on other websites. Google Adsense (is no secret) but you should also considerthis as well. Adsense is a great way to generate revenue from ad clicks on your website. For the record, the higher your Alexa and search engine rank is, the more money you earn on your adsense account.

Google Adwords (is also no secret) and many people say that the campaigns can be expensive. The way you do this without overspending is by:selecting a budget. For example, I Started my adwords account out with a prepaid budget of $100.00. When my account runs out of funds, that's the end of my campaign. During my campaign, my ads appeared on 60 websites (including MySpace), due to the appeal of my ad 500 successful clicks referred 500 visits to my website. Out of those 500, 250 bought something from me. Therefore I gained 250 new customers from my Adwords account.
