9/26/09: New Music From Lil Flip
Flip drops a new track from his album, Respect Me, coming out on the 29th of this month.
We’d like to bring you a new look with this exclusive interview feature today. We spoke to McKinley, the best up and coming music video director in the game. Check out his MySpace at www.myspace.com/dennismckinley
To many, reading the story of F1 Diamond will sound familiar - a rapper who rose from trouble out of the slums to find hip-hop as his talent and skill. However, with deeper thought and meaning, you will quickly see that F1 Diamond and his story is as unique as you will ever come across.
Living the “gangster” lifestyle was all F1 Diamond knew from a young age - dealing drugs, running with gangs, jail, murder and violence was just everyday life in the hoods of Memphis, Tennessee and Milwaukee. When F1 realized jail or death was going to be his calling, he took a trip back home to Milwaukee with his mother to get away from the hood for a little relaxing time.
It was in the car ride back to Milwaukee that F1 Diamond made a decision - he was going to dedicate his life to Jesus and preaching the word of the lord.
Now with a positive but not preachy album on the way, F1 Diamond is here to promote the word of the lord through hip-hop music that “still sounds good.”

Director, producer and writer – these are just some of the hats movie making, multi-talented Vlad Yudin wears alongside his Vladar Company. Born in 1982 in Central Russia, Vlad Yudin grew up in Moscow before moving to New York in 1995 to chase his movie Hollywood dreams.
Very talented at a young age, it was clear that Yudin had a special gift when he wrote and published his first book in Russia at the age of 16. After attending and graduating from Pace University in New York and completing the NYU Filmmaking Program in 2004, Yudin was closer to achieving his goals than ever before.
The documentary field is what intrigued Yudin the most at the time, therefore he began producing feature projects and became partners with Czar productions, a partnership which quickly produced “Big Pun: The Legacy.” Yudin’s latest release details the life and times of Christopher Rios AKA Latin-American rapper Big Punisher. Setting the goal to deliver the importance of Pun’s message and music to the newer generation, Yudin worked with Big Pun’s widow Liza Rios (who acted as the “film consultant”) and the Big Punisher estate (which parts of all proceeds are being donated to) to release “Big Pun: The Legacy” on September 15th through Vivendi Universal and features numerous artists detailing their feedback on Big Pun, such as Snoop Dogg, DMX, Method Man, Chuck D and many more.
Never settling for less, Yudin also worked with composer Kerry Muzzey (State Property 2) to create the score and soundtrack (which is being released through Sony Legacy Recordings/Loud Records) for “Big Pun: The Legacy.” Believing that the story of Big Pun had to be told, Yudin decided to take on the burden himself as he saw the story to not only be inspirational, but also cautionary.
Being the first ever Latino-American rapper to go platinum, it comes as no surprise that the biopic was invited to be debuted at the HBO NY International Latino Film Festival, also gaining the thumbs up from the NY Post who are encouraging all attending the festival to make time in order to view it.
Since establishing The Vladar Company with an alliance of film investors that includes a new production company which will focus on film and TV production in a variety of genres and topics alongside partner Edwin Mejia, Vlad Yudin wrote, produced and directed a new feature film titled “Last Day Of Summer” starring Nikki Reid (Twilight), DJ Qualls (Hustle & Flow, Road Trip) and William Sadler (Die Hard 2, The Shawshank Redemption). With such an all-star cast, Yudin had the finest of actors and actresses to choose from by working with casting director Billy Hopkins (Pineapple Express, Déjà Vu, Any Given Sunday, Bad Boys, Alexander, and Monster’s Ball). The film is being repped by Reder & Feig and is currently slated for a 2010 release date.
By incorporating Russian ideals into his American upbringing, it comes as no surprise that Vlad Yudin is one of the few prominent Russian directors and producers in the US market. With a full production slate for 09/10, Yudin is expected to direct at least two more films in the near future, as well as work with various labels on creating more Film/Music oriented projects set to be released in a variety of distribution platforms.

Well all that has changed the past couple of years as cities like Fort Worth, Dallas and El Paso have a bubbling hip hop scene. San Antonio is another city ready to be added to this list and we have a interview with one of their up and coming stars, Lo Key. Check it out.
Lunatic has been busy as always bringing the news and interviews to the site. Today we bring you his review of a upcoming movie about the life and times of Christopher Rios AKA Big Pun. Check it out, dope read.
Meet J-Rich, the bay area born and bred MC who has rubbed elbows with some of the industries biggest and toughest heavyweights. After two separate moves which took him to New York and Miami, J-Rich was able to hook up and do business with Keyshia Cole, The Game, Fabolous, Glasses Malone and many more. After pondering upon which label offer to accept, J-Rich began his brand with the hard working independent record label, Stay Focused Records, even after discussing with Lil Wayne and his Young Money Records outfit.
A well known studio rat, J-Rich is prepping to drop his first ever official first single in the fourth quarter of this year. With expectations to see that single stomp the airwaves in a major way, J-Rich is clearly up next from the Bay which has already given the west coast mac Dre, Too $hort, E-40 and more.
Read this exclusive J-Rich interview to learn all about the bay area's next star! A very big thank you goes out to the International Publicity Agency (IPA) for setting this interview up.

E1 Music is thrilled to bring you the long awaited new studio album from Texas mainstay E.S.G. Everyday Street Gangsta will be released on September 29th, 2009. This collection of new tracks took over a year to assemble courtesy of the man that brought us the chopped and screwed sound out of Houston . E.S.G. changed the direction of southern hip hop once. Get ready, because he is about to do it again!
You cannot mention the dirty south rap movement without paying homage to E.S.G. He is considered one of the most eminent and important rappers out of Texas . To date E.S.G. has sold over 500,000 albums and thousands upon thousands more on the mixtape circuit.
Everyone knows that E.S.G.’s 1995’s “Swangin’ and Bangin’” remix took on a life of its own. E.S.G. was the pioneer of the chopped and screwed sound that attracted labels such as Perrion, Priority and Wreckshop. The hits kept coming too with “Crooked Streets” and “Smoke On.”
Everyday Street Gangsta features Slim Thug, Streets Gov, Bun B, Duane Harris, Chamillionaire, Big Moe, Young Beast, Killa B and Trae.
As E.S.G. explains it, “My new album is really geared towards anyone who’s trying to pigeon hole Southern artists as all being the same, haters or critics…it’s time you see every artist don't have to go the easy road to be successful and show these cats who have major deals, we do the same thing as an independent company...pretty much giving them swag class, watch how they live, then rap about it. So I took my time grinding the last year to bring some of the best to ever do it south of the Mississippi .”

8/5/09: Chamillionaire Drops Final Installment of Mixtape Messiah Series Today On Chamillionaire.com

THE FIRST FREESTYLE, INTERNET THUGS ATTACK, AND MM7 COVER ART
Houston, TX - Back in 2004, "King Koopa" aka Chamillionaire, dropped the legendary 3-CD diss mixtape called The Mixtape Messiahon an unsuspecting music world. History was made. It sold over 100,000 copies; an unheard-of accomplishment for a mere mixtape. Due to its subject matter and the lyrical prowess with which it was attacked, The Mixtape Messiah became not only a 'mixtape hall of fame' classic, but the moniker by which Chamillionaire is known to this day.
Not that this was Chamillionaire's first release by a long shot; there had been many mixtapes in prior years, both as an artist on Houston's Swishahouse label and later as the one of founding members of the Color Changing Click. There was also a hugely succesful independent album with then group-mate, Paul Wall; the critically-lauded Get Ya Mind Correct, which not only sold over 200,000 copies, but was nominated for Indie Album of the Yearat the 2003 Source Awards.
In the years since those humble beginnings there have been 2 major label albums, Platinum plaques, over 5 million in ring tone sales, a VMA, BET Awards, a Grammy and no less than 5 more installments of the now-infamous Mixtape Messiah series.
Now, over a decade later, Chamillionaire has decided to retire the Mixtape Messiah series with its final installment, Mixtape Messiah 7, telling fans that he is moving on from street mixtapes to focus on his untitled third major label album and new branding opportunities.
Mixtape Messiah 7, which will be available for free download on Chamillionaire.com beginning Tuesday, August 4th, will also be made available to a limited 100 lucky fans only, in hard-copy form, along with a full-color 12 panel booklet and a crisp $100 bill.
Fans have gone all out in their attempts to become one of the lucky few since the announcement of the contest on July 13th, with one in particular putting up a winning eBay bid of $8,400 for a copy - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270426203924
One more copy will be made available for auction on eBay in the near future and all proceeds from the sales of these 2 copies will go to the Houston advocacy agency for infants and children of incarcerated parents, No More Victims, Inc. An organization to which Chamillionaire has donated his time in the past.
For more information on No More Victims, Inc. or to learn how you can help, please visit them on www.nomorevictimsincglobal.org
Other classic examples of the lengths that some fans are willing to go to for their autographed copy are:
Finally, those following Chamillionaire on Twitter at www.twitter.com/chamillionaire will have a chance to win their own copy of the limited edition CD as Chamillionaire announces a random giveaway, one CD per day, beginning today.

“The Unsigned Blessings”, being released on Monday, August 17th 2009 is a project which has set out a goal to present some of the best up and coming underground and/or independent artists to thousands of new listeners. Lunatic, the well known journalist/publicist who has worked with major artists such as OutKast, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross Bun B, The DOC, Warren G, Crooked I, Raekwon and hundreds more has spent the last few months hand picking out the finest talent which he has discovered to appear on the project.
“I am a Hip-Hop fan first” says Lunatic, who is overly excited about the project. “Although I’ve had a chance to work with some of the most major artists in the game, there is nothing more exciting to me than trying to make sure the world hears what I consider the most slept on talent in the industry.”
“The Unsigned Blessings” features 17 tracks with the only worldwide recognizable names appearing being Nappy Roots member Big V and Shady Records in-house producer Rikanatti. “It’s great that some of the artists we got to work with on this project were able to land features from someone like Big V or Rikanatti, but the backbone of the project is the fact that it was put together to represent unheard talent, and believe me once you hear people like Ronald Porter or C-Thru, you will wonder why you have never heard of these guys before.”
“Many of the websites I work for, our readers will be familiar with some of the talent such as Tan-D or The Rat Pac as we introduced them through interviews on the websites before – Many of the appearing talent is talent which I met through interviews, but a lot of the artists represented are also artists which I found through word of mouth or while researching for the type of artists I was looking for.”
“The Unsigned Blessings” is a worldwide project featuring loads of talent from both USA and Canada.
M. Holmes, a Canadian based producer who acted as the projects co-executive producer is excited about what he brought to the table. “Although Lunatic is also Canadian, he’s real major out there in the U.S. so when he asked me to be apart of the project, I knew instantly that it was now my job to bring some Canadian flavor and contributions to the table, but in a way that the style still fit with what his goals were for the tape, and that’s what I did with artists like Brotha Loom, Clarity, Prophecy, Injection and so on. It’s a real hot project.”
The two singles for “The Unsigned Blessings” will both premiere this Wednesday, August 5th along with two music videos for additional tracks debuting in the near future.
The track listing appears below:
1.Stat Quo Intro
2.C-Thru – Life (Ft. Hana)

7/21/09: J-Kwon Drops Tipsy 09, Preps Hood Hop 2.5
J-Kwon is firing up iTunes and digital outlets around the world today with the official release of his new single "Tipsy '09"! He is also gearing up for the release of Hood Hop 2.5, which will be available internationally on July 28 via Gracie/EMI.
In early July, J-Kwon debuted his video for the single "Louie Bounce (I Smacked Nikki)" across the web, and the song hit the Top 5 Most Added tracks on Rap Attack Lives DJ charts for the week of July 13. Keeping his focus forward, J-Kwon has been in the studio preparing even more new music to follow the Hood Hop 2.5 project.
"Tipsy '09" is the follow up to J-Kwon's 2004 platinum hit "Tipsy," which still gets love from fans around the world. Before he could even legally vote, the young rapper enjoyed chart-topping success in 2004 alongside his mentors Jermaine Dupri and L.A. Reid at SoSo Def/Arista. In the wake of label politics after Arista's closing, J-Kwon was left standing alone, but did not miss a step in finding new avenues for himself.
Now 22, J-Kwon is fully independent, and working with Gracie Productions to develop new music that will appeal to his longtime fans and attract new listeners. Tracks like "Tipsy '09," "Fly" and "Louie Bounce" are setting the pace for the young rap vet to create a lasting legacy.
"I'm very thankful to have the opportunity to make songs for my fans through the difficult times a lot of people are facing," explains J-Kwon. "I'm excited to continue the Hood Hop sound, and show the fans who have been with me so long that there is still a lot of fun ahead in the music."

7/9/09: Buckshot/KRS-One Drop Robot Video for Collabo Project
After making their indelible marks on the game luminaries KRS-One and Buckshot, arguably two of the games most prolific emcees, will link up to give fans a collaborative album entitled Survival Skills. The project will be released on Duck Down Records, September 15,th while the duo will be featured on The Rock The Bells tour this Summer.
With guests ranging from Mary J. Blige, Slug Of Atmosphere, K'NAAN, Talib Kweli, Immortal Technique, Melanie Fiona, Naledge of Kidz In The Hall, Sean Price, Geo of Blue Scholars, Smif N Wessun and Rock of Heltah Skeltah, "Survival Skills" represents a diverse range of topics, all while maintaining a consistent sound. The album has production from Havoc of Mobb Deep, 9th Wonder, Black Milk, ILL MIND, Coptic, Moss, Nottz, Marco Polo, and KHRYSIS!
On the surface the album is a testament to the resiliency of two lyrical titans, but at its root Survival Skills is a blueprint for life. For instance on the infectious head-nodder "Robot," which was released 6 weeks prior to Jay Z's "The Death Of Auto Tune" track, and already available World Wide at Digital Retail Shops, such as iTunes, the duo speak-out against the recent overuse of the Auto-Tune vocal effect in urban music, but under the surface the message is much deeper. "I don't want people to get the averaged clich¨¦d version and thinking that we're dissing people,'" Buckshot clarifies. "What we're calling out here is the biters, the people that feel like because this guy sold X amount of records doing this, that I'm going to turn around and do it as well," KRS says of the array of artists who have followed in the creative footsteps of Roger Troutman, Afrikka Bambatta, Teddy Riley and T-Pain. Despite its heavy message, sonically the track, produced by Mobb Deep's Havoc, is as inviting as anything on the radio today. The video for "ROBOT," directed by Todd Angkaswan, has been added into rotation at MTV & BET. The track has also been included in the sound track for Activision's upcoming Tony Hawk skate game in stores this Fall.
Coincidently, ROBOT is not the first example of where Jay Z has released similar material and concepts from KRS-ONE & BUCKSHOT. In 2003, Buckshot's group Black Moon recorded a song called "Stay Real," which was, again, released 6 weeks prior to Jay Z's "Public Service Announcement" track, that ironically contained the same sample as Black Moon's "Stay Real."
A couple years prior to this Jay Z released "THE BLUEPRINT," which was the same title used by KRS-ONE in his classic album, Boogie Down Productions "Ghetto Music: The BLUEPRINT of Hip Hop."
KRS-One and Buckshot are the epitome of rap longevity and relevancy. After making his 1987 debut with Boogie Down Productions on the seminal rap classic Criminal Minded, KRS-One instantly became an icon going on to release a gang of essential works including 1988's By All Means Necessary and 1993's Return of the Boom Bap. Similarly when Buckshot came into the game in 1993 with Enta Da Stage as Black Moon's front man, fans instantly took notice.
And the party never stopped, KRS-One's 2007 collaborative album with producer Marly Marl, ("Hip Hop Lives") was critically acclaimed and his work on "Classic," the Kanye West, Nas and Rakim featured track celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Nike's Air Force 1 shoe, earned the Teacher a Grammy nod. Buckshot has continued to churn-out some of the game's most progressive projects as well, most notably his 9th Wonder-produced albums Chemistry (2005) and The Formula (2008). Couple those with the licensing deals which have landed Buck's music on networks like ESPN and The History Channel, as well as an episode of CSI Las Vegas and it's clear to see why the Boot Camp general has remained one of the game's most influential.
"Ever since 1993 we've been passing each other on tour or in the studio saying, one day we should tour together, or one day we should do a record together," says KRS of the long-awaited union. "Well finally myself and Buckshot have the chance to collaborate on a straight up and down MC'in project."
For all of their individual accomplishments, KRS-ONE and Buckshot remain fans of each other's work; complementing each other's strengthens. "That's still KRS-One at the end of the day. I didn't know how to rhyme back when I first started listening to Kris," says Buck alluding to his partner's dominant history. In turn, KRS gives all praises to the Black Moon front man. "I am the humble teacher on the track, Buckshot is clearly the man," he says.
Still gritty tracks like "Clean Up," featuring Rock of Heltah Skeltah and the politically minded "Running Away" featuring Immortal Technique, make Survival Skills a Hip-Hop fan's dream, catering to those that love lyrics and the boom-bap. Equally as rich is the album's Black Milk-produced track, "The Way I Live" featuring the Queen of hip-hop soul, Mary J. Blige. Together they create a triumphant anthem for all those on the grind trying to conquer their dreams. The song's summery feel and soothing melodies make it an instant hit.
Throughout, both veterans sound as hungry and invigorated as any of their rap counterparts. "Projects like these are projects that motivate me," KRS says. "The idea to work with another MC that has his own persona and style and do a real collaboration in the studio, that's motivation. I already got 16 albums of my own," he adds.
What KRS-One and Buckshot have created is an album that is socially responsible, lyrically sharp and sonically banging. Buckshot sums it up best, "Hip-Hop was started as an option to not killing each other. We were in the ghettos and we were real fucked up. We created Hip-Hop so we didn't have to do that anymore."
"The album is called Survival Skills, because that is what it takes."

How do you impress one half of the brains behind the Cash Money label and creator of its infamous signature sound.....? Well, it helps if you already have a solid buzz of your own due to twelve years of grinding and perfecting your craft and almost a hundred completed songs. That is exactly what 24-year-old New Orleans native and next-on-deck MC, The Show, brought to the table upon being introduced to Mannie Fresh by Fresh¡¯s long-time manager, DJ Wop. Soon after, the two laid down a song down together and Fresh promptly signed The Show to his Chubby Boy Productions imprint label.
Born and raised in New Orleans East, The Show, whose real name is Donald Allen, first grabbed New Orleans¡¯ attention in 2004 with the song, Put It Down. The young rapper went on to attack the Southern street music scene with the classic street tapes I Do This, FEMA, 80¡¯s Baby and Victory Lap. Word of his talent quickly spread and his ability to be an all around entertainer earned him the moniker The Show and enabled him to perform across the Southern U.S. opening for staples like Lil Wayne, BG and David Bannerandpicking up his own fans along the way.
The Show¡¯s sojourn into rap music started back in 1995 when the death of his father inspired him to write a rap poem, which he read to his mother. The love that poem received kept the young man writing and the rest just came naturally; as it does when you are destined to shine. Dubbed as a ¡®lyrical¡¯ artist, not something oft heard when New Orleans¡¯ roster of emcees is discussed, The Show veered from his usual style for the making of the first single, I Does ft. Mannie Fresh, from his upcoming debut, No Business Like Show Business, at the behest of in-house Chubby Boy producer, Bass Heavy.
¡°I was drunk in the studio one night, recording with Bass Heavy, when he said ¡°Show, sometimes you have to have fun and I have the perfect song for you.¡±The Show explains. ¡°Sometimes (Bass Heavy went on), you can just keep it simple and still have a good record. We all know you can rap, but can you party?¡± ¡°So, after about two hours of trying to write the simplest lyrics possible, I Does was born and I actually love the record. Shout out to my big Bro, Bass Heavy.¡±
An association with an industry heavyweight like Mannie Fresh will open a lot of doors but those looking for a heavy roster of features on No Business Like Show Business may be surprised to know that The Show plans to rely on the merit of his own rhyming skills for his debut album¡¯s success.
¡°A lot of today¡¯s new artists try to create singles with already established artists to solidify themselves. Those songs, in turn, sound like the established artist¡¯s song instead. First time out the gate we are sticking with the in-house ¡®Cash Money formula¡¯ but I do have some artists in mind for the second album.¡±
Production duties will also be kept close to home on The Show¡¯s album debut. Along with Bass Heavy, and of course Mannie Fresh, The Show already had a few albums worth of solid material when he signed with Chubby Boy.
¡°One of the things that Mannie admired about me is that when I became a part of the Chubby Boy/EGMG imprint I was already fully prepared. I had been working closely with three producers, Ceaux Young of Flight School/EGMG, Zella of FlightSchooland Stevie Drumma of Premier Hits. Together we already had almost a hundred songs.¡±
From Jazz to Zydeco, from Blues to Hip Hop, the city of New Orleans has a long and varied musical legacy for The Show to live up to and he is ready. When asked what he brings to the game that is fresh, or hasn¡¯t been done before, he answers quickly.
¡°There isn¡¯t much beyond the conscious, revolutionary, gangsta, stuntin¡¯ or every day struggles that hip hop has to offer.¡± He explains. ¡°Yet, if you twist things a certain way, you can broaden those subjects so far that you can turn it into a fifteen-year career like LL Cool J, Jay-Z or Nas. Since Hip Hop is a predominantly black art form, every rap artist has a similar story; growing up with no father, mom was a single parent so you learn from the streets, but when I put my twist to it, I create a variation of that story and make it my own.¡±
Indeed, there IS no business like SHOW business and this show WILL go on. Album due in stores Fall 2009!

After the release of his independent album Paradise in April 2008, Compton singer/songwriter TQ is back in '09 with a collection of new self-produced songs. Paradise featured the breakout track "S.E.X.Y." which became an instant hit with fans, and has over 50,000 in digital sales worldwide to date. TQ has chosen to re-feature "S.E.X.Y." on the new album of the same name, which is now available at Best Buy and on iTunes.
Gracie Productions has been an integral part of TQ's indie success, and while he has been touring and recording overseas the past few months, the Gracie team worked hand-in-hand with EMI Distribution to expand promotions of the Paradise LP.
Additionally, TQ has consistently offered free music via his MySpace page, and interacts with fans to ensure he is delivering his creative best at all times. He is currently in Europe with shows in Germany, Belgium, Sweden and the UK in July, and is steadily working on even more new music.
Now with S.E.X.Y., TQ will be able to give his fans even more of his heartfelt writing with 10 new songs, and all departments of Gracie Productions are on board for the experience.
¡°After the success of TQ¡¯s album Paradise, it was only natural to release a follow-up that is even more powerful," expresses Dorian Washington, President of Gracie Urban. "To me, TQ is the most underrated R&B singer of our generation and S.E.X.Y. is, in my opinion, his best work yet."
