D~Marc back with another interview and this time we chilled with Donna Garza, host of her own show in Dallas, Texas called Trix N Da Hat. It showcases talent in and around Dallas and has in depth interviews with artists. In this interview we talk about how she got started, how you can contact her about show appearances, the music scene and much more so check it out.

Tell me about your upbringing and your musical influences.

I was brought up in a single family household and raised primarily by my mother grandmother and aunties. Some of my musical influences consist of a variety of artists. Stemming from Chaka Kun, Etta James, Al Green, to Micheal Franks, Alejandro Sandz, Loretta Lyn , to Kiesha Cole Bryan McKnight , Run DMC to Jay Z, Beyonce, and Maze. And the list goes on and on and on.

How did you get into the promotional/show business?

Early on as a child I would help my mother promote her night club and eventually started to have parties there. Then I began to host my own shows and eventually took it to another level and began to seek after television.

Tell me a little bit about what goes on with your show.

Well at Trix N The Hat a lot goes on. First of all we are like one big happy family. We have rappers, singers poets and etc. Basically what goes on during a full production is we have the artists perform and then we do interviews with the artists and then we will have interaction with the audience and sometimes we will have them participate as well. We also have judges that judge the talent to see who will be the next headliner for the show and we are filming all throughout the show in order to have the shows edited and sent off to the networks to be played.

What are some of the upcoming talent people need to check for that appear on your show?

They need to check for upcoming artists like Mr. A Dot, Young Q with Deadly venom records, Admire a female rap artists, IQ, Smurph and Q from Houston and Cutta C.

What are some of the shows coming up people should check for?

We have a full production that will be taped and live performances on March 15th from 2 pm to 6 pm at Bacaras in Addison.

What advice would you give to artists and people looking to get into show promotion and the music industry?

Don’t stop no matter what obstacles you may face. Keep it moving. Surround yourself with as many people in the business that you can. Be persistent and don’t take no for an answer. Always strive to be better and do better. Remember you can get a thousand no’s but it only takes that one yes. Be organized and always professional.
