GEORGE REEFAH INTERVIEW

George Reefah took time out of his busy schedule to chop game with I2G. The T-Dot (Toronto, Canada) rep talks about his new mixtape, Clear & Present Danger, his upcoming album, what he feels he brings to the hip hop game and much more so check it out.

Illuminati 2G is here with George Reefah, how's it going?

Yo, what is going on Illuminati 2G, what's good my dude?

I can't call it. Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in music and who are some of your musical influences out there.

Word, well basically on a come up I listened to alot of Slick Rick. I liked his style and what he was bringing to the game, also Nas as well and Mobb Deep as well. I came up on alot of that, also Wu-Tang as well, they was doing it crazy. I came up in that era where you had classics being created by these artists. 1991 to 1994 hip hop, that influenced me the most.

If you could best describe you style on the mic, how would you describe it and why?

I would say my style on the mic is smooth. At the end of the day, alot of people have said that I am a smooth type of brotha anyways so it relays on the music no problem. My album that we are dropping, it is called Remain Calm. Part of that title comes from my whole personality, remaining calm, and being a laid back, smooth dude. My music also relays that so if I had to call a style on the mic, I would say smooth. Almost like a Big Daddy Kane type vibe.

What is the hip hop scene like in Toronto, Canada where you are from?

The hip hop scene in Toronto, it bubbles man. We got alot of major artists, of course Drake, he crazy, doing it real heavy representing the city right now. We got alot of talent up here, Kardinal Offishall, big shouts to him, he coming on his own avenue and he is known across the world. The talent is out here, the buzz is out here, Toronto is still home. Any time I am out here, I get crazy love. I just had a show out there recently, and the talk about it and just the music scene in general is wild right now. The scene is buzzing, but to me it is like anywhere else that you go. You got to create your lane and you have to go full steam ahead. When you get to the finish line, you can look back and say that is my home and where I am coming from. That is what Toronto is like, for real.

You just recently dropped a new mixtape, Clear & Present Danger. Tell me a little bit about the mixtape.

YEAH, Clear & Present Danger that is the new mixtape. The way that we are looking at it is that we are shaking things up. It is a takeover and I look at myself as I am about to take over. This is like the calm before the storm, so this is my introduction to the market and let everyone know who I am and what I got to say and just keep people in tune with the singles, audio and video that are coming out.

You had mentioned earlier about your album, Remain Calm. Is there any details that you can give about it or are you still in the beginning stages of putting it together?

Oh yeah well Remain Calm is a album that is about 2 years in the making. Is consists of me over 2 years and I feel like when you look at this game right now, or music in general, everybody is going crazy over record sales. Or this label is falling or this artist is doing this and that and I think alot of the confusion and this and that which is going on with music right now, I just wanted to be that dude that comes in a says yo remain calm. I got this, don't worry about it. I want people to react and say ok there is hope. That is what the album represents and it shows the listener how I stay calm throughout everything that happens in music.

Do you have a target release date or anything set for the album?

We looking to drop it in the 4th quarter, we have not come up with a date yet, just because of the everyday delays and things a album goes through, but we are definitely in the home stretch right now. It is going to be evident and everyone is going to know, it' coming and it is serious.

Do you have any other upcoming shows or tour dates?

We ain't releasing any tour dates at this time because we are in the process of putting them all together.

What is your myspace or website information for people looking to check out your music and see what you got going on?

www.myspace.com/georgereefah, www.georgereefah.com. You can stay in tune there and it will tell you what city I am in and everything.

And people can then also go to the myspace to pick up the new mixtape correct?

Yeah people can go on there and we got the forwarding link to download the tape from there. For all my Dat Piff users, hop on www.datpiff.com, search ya boy George Reefah. Type that in, and get yourself a banging ass mixtape. 22 bumping tracks and something for the mind to meditate on.

Alright well that is all the questions I have for you, appreciate you getting down for the interview. Is there any last words or shoutouts you want to get out there to the people?

No doubt, I want to shout out the team 5 Deutsche, the whole Toronto stand up. I am out here. Shout out to Illuminati 2G for holding me down, yall know what it is.
