SACRIFICE
You feeling the music, your flowing, now what? You need beats right?
I started using beats from DJ Shadow and anything else I could find....performing to them.....I never heard of mixtapes yet, this was in 1996. A few people around fucked with music, so I got to mess around here and there plus I used to be in some punk bands....But finally I met Kemo and he gave me a tape of beats to write to and a place to record at. These days, people go to limewire, or where ever else and record whole projects on other peoples beats. Maybe for some underground mixtape type shit, cool. Hopefully, you'll use original production as soon as possible. Places like myspace and going to shows are the easiest places to go to find production. Hit people up, these days there are millions of MC's, producers, DJ's, and musicians-more importantly.
Some of the people I work with are:
www.myspace.com/djfade
www.myspace.com/mr.peralta
www.myspace.com/monomaniac
www.myspace.com/rec.worm
www.myspace.com/genombeats - he is from the US, there is another guy in Germany by the name of Genom I think too, but im not talking about him.
Mixtapes, cool, use em to promote yourself, but focus on original production, topics, concepts, that is the easiest way to start a fanbase. People will recognize you for you, for your total product and for your hustle. Ain't nobody gon promote you like you do, so go out and hustle, bring it to the people cuz the people are the ones that turn your passion into a hustle.
Life for me is still hella challenging to say the least. I am one individual, with my version of history. I wish someone laid it out for me, but that would've taken away from the pride of hard work, the progress reached after sacrifice. It feels good and no matter what, you never stop walking hard, NEVER. Not if you want to remain viable, fresh and innnovative.
