Everlast/DJ Muggs Concert Review 5/18/07

I have been a Muggs and Everlast fan sinced both first collaborated on Jump Around with House Of Pain and Muggs in Cypress Hill. The concert was poolside at the Hard Rock Hotel and it was a packed house. The concert was for Muggs' Mash Up Radio, which is where Muggs takes hip hop music and fuses it with rock music. Everlast was the special guest for the concert and he performed hits from Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash and the highlight of the evening, performing Sweet Home Alabama mashed up with Drop It Like It's Hot.

Everlast also performed some of this hits from his solo albums like Ends, Put Your Lights On & What It's Like. The funny part of the evening was when a fan above the stage kept yelling at Everlast to do some hip hop tracks. Everlast does hip hop every once and a while, but he said in a interview he was bored with rap and he started doing more folk, blues and rock music. But this guy was persistent.

Muggs dropped the instrumental to Jump Around and Everlast said "Sike"! The crowd was disappointed but a few minutes later he perfromed it and the crowd lost they mind! He said he was too old to be jumping around the stage anymore. The concert was only a hour set, but Everlast let everyone know he had a new album coming this summer and the La Coka Nostra would be touring and they also are working on a new album. Muggs has his collabo album with Sick Jacken of Psycho Realm dropping soon and Soul Assassins III. Overall a very good concert with Everlast putting his own unique twists on some timeless rock classics.
