D-Nice back in place to be with a special interview. Repa Dvsele from Latvia hit me up and although he is in a completely different country, RD is definitely a hip hop head. We talk about the difference in Latvian rap and rap in the states, his musical influences and much more so check out the interview.

D: Tell me how you got started rapping?

RD: I started rapping one year ago, in august of 2006, because I become interested in rap only then. I started with lyrics, every one said that I got talant in writing of lyrics, rhymes. So then I start thinkin about making some songs, so right now I got about 70 songs with many other artists, from Latvia and Germany. So this is how I started my way in hip-hop.

D: What is the rap scene like in Latvia?

RD: Here there is alot of rappers, but they are not so good (they don't have skills). Also they making battles, and diss songs for every one who are rappin. I dont like that so much, so I'm more like poet.

D: You have any plans for a mixtape or album soon?

RD: Right now I'm searching some who wants me on their mixtape, so if you are intrested, send me message at soul-z@apollo.lv and I will jump on your mixtape 100 %. Right now I'm making an album with title "DzÄ«ve" - "Life", but I don't know if I will make it official or not...I will think about that.

D: How would you describe your style?

RD: My style is unique in Latvia, because I'm makin songs in story telling style, about reality, life in Latvia, social problems.

D: What is your definition of a MC?

RD: Master class rapper, rapper who know what to do and what not to do. Rapper with skills, great taste of lyrics, rapper who can make you imagine his lyrics' story in your mind.

D: Who are your favorite MC's?

RD: My favorite MC's are Tupac and B.I.G... R.I.P...

D: What are your thoughts on the state of hip hop right now?

RD: I think this is future of hip-hop.

D: Who are some other MC's/producers that are doing they thing in Latvia?

RD: In Latvia there is not many well known rappers. Best known rapper, and king of hip-hop culture in Latvia is Gustavo (something like 50 cent in woods :D ), but I don't like his lyrics.
