D~Marc back with another interview. This time we conversate with Rock of Dallas, TX. In this interview we discuss the music scene in Dallas, his new mixtape, The Talk Of D-Town, that is up for free download, radio play for local artists and much more so check it out.
D: Tell me about how you got started in music.
R: Well I always been into music and had always had words & ryhmes in my head and it wasn't till like 16 were I got down & started actually writting and started to record and I hooked up with a producer called J-B ONE who produced on DJ-LAZ'S CD CRUISIN and he schooled me on how to write to bars & put my ideas into song format and there was the beginning.
D: Who are your biggest influences?
R: Man let me see.... UGK, SCARFACE, BIG-PUN, JAY-Z, BIGGIE,RAKIM, KOOL G RAP, N DATS PROLLY BOUT IT......
D: How would you best describe your rap style?
R: Man I would say HUNGER-HUSTLE & GRIND mixed all together & dats best describes my SWAGG.
D: What is the rap scene like in Dallas?
R: It's tight cause of me...... lol but it is what it is like any other city, BUT I LOVE MY CITY GROVE STAND UP .........
D: Do you find it tough to take radio play in Texas or do most cities support their own?
R: Hell yeah radio in Dallas is frustrating they aint wanting to play local artists too much besides the local hour showcase but even to get on that it's a lot of politics and B.S but that's the game we play so you got to just keep pushin.Yeah I support all local artists I worked wit a lot of them so I'll buy it if it's nice but of course I'm not gonna buy no garbage LOL but if it's nice I'll cop it & give it a jam.
D: How is your new mixtape Talk Of The D-Town doing and give us some more info on the mixtape.
R: Well I ain't trying to make no million right now so u can find my mixtape for free n it's moving alright I ain't complaining. It has Tum Tum & Fat-B from universal signed group DSR and its got MONEY-WATERS my artist SMALL-CHANGE & RICO MURDA OH AND OF COURSE ME........LOL.
D: Where can people pick up the mixtape?
R: My myspace it's FREE, SO YALL COME COP IT BURN IT DO WUT YALL DO & LETS GET IT.......
D: Well you can't beat that price. LOL!! Tell me about any new albums you are currently working on and when will they drop?
R: I'm working on I guess you can say a album I'm just doing trax and letting them build up I don't plan on releasing a album till I get a bigger fan base but due to the song HUSTLA I have on my myspace getting so much love its looking cool for 2008 if god willing it goes right. Lets see mixtapes I got TALK OF D-TOWN & and just about finished with my second one but you can expect mixtapes from the time being till the album drops & as far as labels I'm indie so STREET-GRIND-MUSIC.
D: What music is Rock bumping at the pad or the ride?
R: Killa Kyleon, 50, UGK & FACE, & me ROCK.
D: What do you feel is missing from hip hop right now?
R: ME..... Dat's it....LOL
D: Ha, you a fool Rock. Any upcoming shows or tour dates?
R: Nah none right now but soon juss stay posted 2 my myspace.
D: Any last words or shoutouts?
R: SHOUT OUT MY LADY, MY SON, SMALL-CHANGE,J-B ONE YOU AIN'T HOLLYWOOD HOMIE.......
