SHUT EM UP KLICK 5/28/08

Illuminati 2G hooked up with the Shut-Em-Up-Klick for a exclusive interview. We discuss their new mixtape, Flippin N Throwed, out right now, the state of hip hop in Texas, how they hooked up with Trae and much more so sit back and enjoy.

D: How did you guys get your start in the game and who are some of your musical influences?

Big Show- I've always been in music since I was little, thought I was going to be a singer listening to Motown all tha time. But growing up in Houston my influences were DJ Screw, Fat Pat, Hawk, Z-RO, Scarface, SPM, UGK, Pac and whoeva else was spittin real.

Joe- I was always into music in every aspect, since I was young, first started recording with a group back in 02 called ENTHRONE RYDAZ, from there it just took off, some of my musical influences were 3-6 Mafia, Bone-Thugs-n-Harmony, Warren G, and alot of the H-Town rappers.

D: How did you guys come together as a group?

Joe- After parting ways with my last group I was with, I decided to start my own label "SHUT EM UP KLICK"in 03. I hit up my brother-in-law Champagne got him on tha team, then called up Big Show and told him what was shakin, he told me "let me hit this lick right quick-n-i'll hit you back". So while waiting for him to call back I hit up D-Krazzy laced him down with tha bidness, D was like "I've been waiting for this to go down lets make it happen". So when Show hit me back the first thing he asked me is "what studio we hittin up, and what beat we wrecking". So basically it went down after that.

D: Can you give any details about your new album and are you planning any mixtapes before it drops?

Joe- We're not working on any albums as of right now, we currently have a mixtape about to drop with in a few weeks "Flippin-n-Throwed" feat. Trae Tha Truth of ABN/G-Maab on our new smash single "EXPLAIN".

Show- We are mainly focused on pushing our singles on tha radio and internet and rocking every show they line up for us.

D: I heard that. Stay on that grind. What can people expect from the album once it does drop?

Show- "Real life stories of our lives" what we been through, encountered and seen".

Joe- Hits that everyone and every race can relate to, but there's also a few feel good tracks to get tha females crunk, and a few to get tha fellas hyped. And letting people know who don't know whats going down out here in tha 3rd Coast!

D: Any guests or producers you still trying to get on your album that you would like to work with?

Joe- As of right now tha mixtape is aready done, but for the next project we would like to work with a few more Houston artists such as: Z-Ro, Bun-B, Lil Flip, Swisha House, etc. Also a few Dallas artist such as Big Tuck, Tum Tum, Mr Pookie, Lucci, and whoeva wanna get down with tha get down!

D: How did you guys hook up with Trae?

Show-"MAYNE", I was coming out of the club in tha city, and saw Joe and one of my folks getting beat by Houston's finest, I jumped in tha mix and we all caught one way tickets to jail. From Pasadena jail I got transferred to Harris County, and meet up with a fella that went by tha name of Shot G. He told me he was an ABN soldier and kicked it with Trae,we hit every tank together until we made bond, got out walked straight across tha street to the Spaghetti Warehouse, sipped on Greygoose, ate and chopped up game. We exchanged numbers, and said we'll get at each other on some bidness.

He hit me up a week later, told me he was on tha west side at Trae's house,  for me to come through and chop up game. So me and Joe went over go introduced to Trae, I was so crunk I started spittin one of  Trae's verses at him. Trae started smiling, shook my hand and told me "thats what that is bro". And out of strength of him and Shot G, and me and Shot G being on a different level, Trae put us down with some music, and it's been going down ever since!

D: Damn, that is a hell of a story. I am a Trae fan so that is dope he got down with you guys on the strength like that. What are your thoughts on the music scene out in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX?

Joe- I think there's alot of talent, I also think that if everyone got on tha same level alot more could be accomplished, the music's there it'crunk and it's hot!

Show- If everybody showed more love to one another and take this rap industry on as a team, Dallas/FTW would be alot further in this rap game than they are now! Dallas/FTW has shown us nothing but love, so it's nothing but love and respect to them.

D: Who are some of the artists locally and from other places you think people should be checking for?

S.U.K.: Theres alot of unsigned artists that we meet throughout all tha shows we do, that got crazy talent, too many to name. But some of tha closes ones that we affiliate with are "born famous rec." A-Dot, SKS, Enthrone, X-Cal, 9mm, Crystyle, Immortal soldiers. Just to name a few.

D: Any upcoming tour dates or shows?
