SICKO SOLDADO INTERVIEW 1/28/08

D~Marc back with another interview. This time I chopped it up with Dead Silence Records artist Sicko Soldado for a interview with Illuminati 2G. In this interview, we discuss how he hooked up with Kemo, the state of hip hop and most importantly, his new album, Sicko Soldado, which dropped a couple of weeks ago. Sit back, relax and enjoy the interview.

D: Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in music?

SS: I first got my start in music back in '98, which was when I purchased my first recording equipment. In '01 is when I actually recorded my first track in an actual studio.

D: Who are your biggest influences?

SS: My biggest influences are Kemo and Big Duke because despite all the bad things that happen they just keep going.

D: How did you come up with the name Sicko Soladado?

SS: I got the name Sicko Soldado because I'm a sick soldier down for the movement.

D: How would you best describe your style on the mic?

SS: My style is different, complete underground. I like to keep my style original.

D: Tell me a little bit about your new album. Who did the beats, guests, etc.

SS: Actually the name of the album is Sicko Soldado. This is my debut album, released under Kemo's new label Dead Silence Records. I got a couple of features on the album of course Kemo The Blaxican, Krazy Race, Mostro, Gremlin, and also The Hated 13. I had a few producers on this album one being Topik who produces for Symbolix he did a few of the tracks on the album one of them being the single. Kemo also produced alot of the record he also did all of the mixing and recording. Monomanic (life support) hooked me up with one of his beats. Up coming producer The hated 13 who is also featured on the album (track 8) did a couple of tracks so I definetly think that theres alot of varitey.

D: How did you hook up with Kemo?

SS: I first hooked up with Kemo at a D.H. show. I got their number and booked them for a show. After that I moved to Cali and ever since then we've been working together.

D: What are your thoughts on the current state of hip hop?

SS: I think it's over flowed with the same thing. There needs to be some change something different there is alot of dope mc's out here that need to be heard.

D: What is Sicko Soladado bumping in the ride these days?

SS: Right now I've bumping Kemo's new album "Not So Rich And Famous", I bump some Krazy Race some SPM, and alot of other underground groups.

D: Yeah Kemo stays in steady rotation for me as well. Any tour dates or shows scheduled soon?

SS: I got some shows lined up I'm going to be going to Holland in March with Kemo and I'm doing my release party on March 6,08 at the Rhythm Lounge in Long Beach. I'm also going to be doing a show this Friday 2/1/08 at the Airliner in L.A. with Kemo. Getting more shows soon.

D: Damn sounds like you got a full calender of shows. Well thanks for doing the interview. Any shoutouts or last words?
