I2G caught up with 1/3 of the group Monstas Ink, Trap, for a exclusive interview. We discuss the group along with his upcoming solo ventures, Arizona hip hop and much more so check it out.

Illuminati 2G is here with Trap how's it going?

Aww man I'm just happy to be here ya dig?

No doubt. Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in hip hop.

I been around music most of my life, my mother is a big fan of music from the 70s and 80s so I always had good music in my ears.  I started rhyming around the time I hit junior high while listening to Dr. Dre, Snoop, Eazy E, & MC Ren. From there I learned how to structure music and write 16s, I been recording in major studios since I was 14.

How did you get the name Trap for yourself?

My cousin gave me that name, we always hustled and did everything we could to come up with money and I constantly came to him with new ideas of how we could get paid.  One day were were just talking about Trapp'n period and he just start calling me Trap and the name stuck.  Anybody that know me know I stand for good business practice and hard work so the name has always served me right.

How did you first link up with Hannibal Leq and Monstas Ink?

Me and Hannibal recorded a song called "Weatherman" it actually featured my cousin on the original version of the song. At the time I didn't know Lo well but he came to the studio when I wasn't there and really liked the song and wanted to put a verse on it to see how it would sound.  When I came back and heard it the chemistry of us 3 together was so crazy that the streets demanded that we start a group.  The rest was history.

Do you guys have a projected release date for the group album or are you dropping a mixtape first?

We have a album dropping called "Inglorious Bastards".. We plan to drop that in the 1st Quarter.

Whats next for you as far as solo projects?

I'm dropping a project with West Coast Kam next year, I have my own team Dump Truck records dropping a project, and my last mixtape before my album "I Never Sleep"..

Wow that should be dope, definitely looking forward to that. What are your thoughts right now on the music scene in Arizona?

Arizona is a really competitive state MC wise so there is a lot of fighting for position.  With the recent National release from Willy Northpole people are starting to pay more attention to the South West. 

Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates?

Right now I'm actually in talks about a Tour I may be on next year but it's too early to say.  My next show will be December 11th with Fabolous & Chingy.
