Richie Quake Interview

Check out our exclusive interview with Richie Quake.

Illuminati2G is here with Richie Quake, how’s it going?

It’s going great thanks

Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in music and who are some of your musical influences out there coming up.

I started playing music as a kid and started writing my own songs at about 16. I actually started off writing kind of folky/acoustic songs back then because I didn’t know how to produce, but I got into production when I was around 19 and started developing the R&B sound you hear today. A couple major influences of mine are Bill Withers, Drake, James Blake, and Beach House. I tend to like stuff thats raw, emotional, and catchy.

You just recently dropped your new single Try. Tell me a little bit about the single and how it came together for you.

That song went through a lot of phases. It started as a super 80’s style ballad with all these analog synths and old drum sounds. For some reason I felt that the song should go in a different direction so the version I released is basically a remix of the original. On the lyrical side, I had been having a lot of feelings about a relationship I was in at the time. The song was basically me venting about how love is not always perfect and its not always enough to hold a relationship together.

Do you have any upcoming videos?

Nothing I know of, but I would love to work on something soon. I haven’t done a video in a while.

What’s up next for you? Any full length LP’s in the works?

Right now I just plan on releasing singles because I feel like I want to develop more as an artist. When the time comes there will definitely be an LP though.

What are your current thoughts on the music industry in 2016?

everybody knows the music industry sucks but for some reason my passion to make music has driven me past any kind of logical thought process when it comes to a career.

Do you have any shows or tour dates?

Ive been mostly doing DJ sets in NYC lately which are always posted on my instagram. As far as live shows, I have a few things in the works that Im not gonna talk about yet but I’ll keep everyone posted.

What is your website information?

i have a website: , but just hit me up on instagram thats the social media I’m most active on.

Appreciate the interview, any last words or shout outs?
