Check out I2G’s exclusive interview with Macntaj.

I2G:
All right, we’re here with Macntaj. How’s it going, man?

Macntaj:
Yeah, I’m doing well, man. Thanks for having me.

I2G:
All right. Let’s get right into it. You just recently dropped your new single entitled “Deception”. Tell me a little bit about the single and how it came together for you.

Macntaj:
Yes, sir. Deception essentially was, for me I feel like it is at least how I grew up and where I grew up, a lot of times my and my close family and my close home boys, our perceptions were jaded just in regards to how life works and how life was supposed to be, and we kind of felt like everybody was against us.

We didn’t really have anything and I really fell like that led to, that led a lot of people not only to the pen but the grave and I feel like now, taking a step back from everything and just really looking at it from a bird’s eye view. I was just able to really catch up on how I saw things as a kid and certain circumstances that led to certain decisions that me or my homeboys may have made.

I2G:
Do you have a video or any visuals for that single or any other singles coming up for you?

Macntaj:
Yeah, we’re working on some visuals, on a few different videos. It don’t have a time and place. Right now we’re just focusing on getting the music out there.

I2G:
Being in Seattle, tell me a little bit about the hip hop scene in Seattle and just musically what’s going on there in 2017.

Macntaj:
Okay, so first and foremost I want to say that I respect everybody and I respect everybody’s craft and I really want to see everybody be successful. That being said, I feel like there is a lot of, I feel like it’s low key just a big dick-measuring contest.

I feel like a lot of cats feel entitled and are investing in themselves, investing their time and efforts to look big and not be big. I feel like the whole show game is kind of fucked up too, because it’s really about who you know, not what you’re doing, what you’re about.

Not to say that that affects me directly because it really doesn’t. We’ve played on quite a few big bills, but I just feel like there’s a lot of cats that are hungry with talent that the scene in its entirety kind of makes it difficult on them.

I2G:
Absolutely, absolutely. All right, you had mentioned shows. Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates you want to let people know about?

Macntaj:
Yeah. We have some stuff we’re working on but I’m not going to talk about it right now just because things haven’t been finalized and I want to make sure that things come to fruition before I speak on them, so nothing official, but we’re working on some things, yeah, I guess would be the short answer to that question.

I2G:
Then you got your crew, Slightly Flagrant. Do you guys have any group projects or what’s next coming from the crew?

Macntaj:
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That’s me and Taane Jr. That’s T-A-A-N-E. Jr. Taane’s working on a solo project. We released a project early last year and right now what we’re working on is kind of making sure we build more our solo endeavors, and then towards, I don’t know, the second half of this year, we’ll start promoting the Slightly Fragrant EP. We have music videos that we’ll probably drop before that.

We have, yeah, we have music videos that will drop before that, but in terms of releasing any new EP or new project, that will probably be for later this year. Not what we’re working on right now.

I2G:
All right. What’s your website information for people looking to check out your music and see what you’ve got going on?

Macntaj:
I mean shit, really I have Macntaj.com but you know, Facebook’s everything right now, so Facebook.com/Macntaj. Twitter, Instagram. On Twitter it’s @Macntaj and on Instagram it’s just @Macntaj so really whatever you’re on, you can find me at. Spotify and my Pandora station. All that good shit.

I2G:
All right, well that’s all the questions I have for you. Appreciate you getting down for the interview. Is there any last words or shout outs you want to get out to the people?

Macntaj:
Shit man, shout out to y’all for hooking it up.
