I2G:
All right, we’re here with Knowledge Nick, how’s it going man?

Knowledge Nick:
Man, everything is good, man. I totally cannot complain, man.

I2G:
All right, let’s get right into it. You just recently dropped your new video entitled Give It Up, tell me more about the single and how it came together for you and the video.

Knowledge Nick:
Yeah, so, the inspiration came from really just … Sometimes I … I don’t know, to me, its like a lyrical onslaught and people who have no love for the culture of hip hop, but they reap rewards from it. And so, I kind of wanted to create a song, to kind of put that out there. Do you know what I’m saying? And so, there are people who have love for hip hop and then you have those who I call culture vultures and they may not have the love for hip hop but they seek to take all the rewards from it. I just wanted to create a song basically off of that.

I2G:
Now for somebody that’s new to your music, you have a new project entitled Slaughter Season, that’s dropping later this year, what are listeners in store for once they check out the project?

Knowledge Nick:
Sure so I think what the project represents is definitely me and my DJ, DJ Hush, when we decide to come up with a mix tape, we were wanting to come with a very, the essence of a mixed tape. Where there will be a lot of tracks where I’m rapping off of, you know, other peoples beats, like gang over beats and then there will be a few originals like, Give It Up on there. So its gonna give a classic feel, with a new jack swing and we have been so gracious to give mixed tapes dropped from Grandaddy I U and then some R Facts. And so we’re very gracious for this but I think with mine, its very much of a blend between in scene and DJ and where with my stuff, he’s gonna be cutting, he’s also gonna be putting other material on there as well. So its like a collaborated project, in the, definitely the essence of the mixed tape feel and I know that has, the mixed tape has drastically changed over the years, so we were wanting to just kind of bring the essence back.

I2G:
Do you have the release date set for the project?

Knowledge Nick:
It will be released late summer of this year. The date is still TBD, but it will be for sure released in the later summer this year.

I2G:
As far as any other additional videos, do you have anything else scheduled to drop from the mixed tape?

Knowledge Nick:
Yes. I actually will be creating more videos from the mix pick, which will be more second quarter of this year, and, like I said we’re just going to have a very strong push and campaign for it. So there will definitely be more videos from the mixed tape, and just a lot of things that we had in preparation from the mixed tape. Promotions and advertising and making sure that we’re putting it in the hands of people and listeners who will definitely enjoy it.

I2G:
Okay. So now as far as your own personal playlist, what are you listening right now, what are you feeling, what music are you playing right now in your playlist?

Knowledge Nick:
Man, Blue, I love Blue. Joey Bada$$, Apollo Brown, Oddisee. I’m kind of old school. OC, Westside Gun, Guilty Simpson, Raztazz. I think those are the guys, the heavy ones. The other then, like the stuff I grew up listening to and all that, like the Gang Starrs and all that. But, that’s definitely what I am heavy on right now.

I2G:
Yeah that new Oddisee is like, album of the year. That album is incredible.

Knowledge Nick:
Man, oh my god dude. It is ridiculous man.

I2G:
Absolutely, absolutely. Alright do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates or anything coming up here to let people know about?

Knowledge Nick:
I will be doing some shows here in the summer, and you know I’ll be doing some stuff around here. I’m still kinda getting some things worked out around that, and I’m trying to hopefully set up some things on the regional level. So those are still being worked out. I think a lot of things are just, the plans are there, it’s just getting dates solid so we can go ahead and do the thing.

I2G:
What’s your website information for people looking to check out your music and see what you got going on?

Knowledge Nick:
Sure. They can go to www.artisttreeent.com. They can go to Spotify and they can look up Knowledge Nick and all my music is gonna be on those two sites.

I2G:
Alright, well that’s all the questions I have for you. Appreciate you getting out for an interview. Is there any last words or shout outs you want to get out there to the people?

Knowledge Nick:
No that’s it man. Hey man, I really appreciate you guys for taking the time out to interview me.
