Check out I2G’s exclusive interview with iNTeLL.
I2G is here with iNTeLL, how’s it going?
It’s going great, a lot of synchronicity happening in my life at the moment and it’s a blessing
Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in music and who are some of your musical influences.
I Started writing poetry at 11yrs old. My best friend
(DruGunn$) use to freestyle all the time over beats and that got me thinking maybe I could put my poems to music. On the come up at first I was influenced by Eminem, Lupe, NaS and then the WU once I really started to do the knowledge on my roots.
Tell me a little bit about your new single, Ashes, Ashes.
So it was my first time in this particular studio and the engineer/producer (MikeTheHighest) throws on this fire ass beat and I’m like “Yo I NEED THAT” I went home that night and wrote the record. I would say its my attempt at delivering a catchy alluring hook followed by 32 bars of pure
iNTeLLectual fire. For the video I decided to go to the trip dimension because thats how I feel when I listen to that song.
What are listeners in store for once your new album, That Was Then This Is Now drops in August?
They are in store for lyricism, concepts, a variety of
cadences & flows. SUBSTANCE. The main thing I think people will take away from my album though is me, I think the people that have been supporting me and even the new supporters will really get to know me after listening to this.
Do you have any more upcoming videos?
Yes, I got a song called THE BLACKOUT and the video for that we shot in El Paso Texas with the featured artists on the track by the name of THE PURGE. That video should be dropping soon.
What are your current thoughts on the music industry?
I think it’s become too business oriented, granted hip hop is now the #1 consumed genre but that’s not really reflected when it comes to the wider net of artists. I feel as if the same names keep getting circulated and the industry doesn’t do enough for the rest of the artists that make up its bones, organs & tissue. And the streaming wars and exclusives are really fucking it up for the fans, WE JUST WANT THE MUSIC! Lol
What is currently playing on your playlist musically?
I just finished listening to Lana Del Rey’s album and it was dope. As well as Tyler the creators album and the new Damian Marley Album is a must listen
Do you have any shows or tour dates?
Currently I’m down small shows locally here & there, however I do plan on rocking the stage with the SnowGoons and Sean Strange as soon as I get the opportunity to do so
What is your website information?
Any & Everybody can keep up with me and stay connected thru also Im a huge Instagram guy so I can also be reached there @Shaolin.Lord
Appreciate the interview, any last words or shout outs?
Yeah man big shout out to I2G for taking an interest in me, as well as The SnowGoons & Sean Strange for helping me get my music to the ears of the people.Peace.
