Check out I2G’s exclusive interview with 1900Astro.
I2G is here with 1900Astro, how’s it going?
Hey I2G I’m doing great thanks for having me I have a lot of respect for you guys’ platform
Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in music and who are some of your musical influences.
Honestly I’ve always loved music but it was more so from a fan aspect. I was dating a singer and it would be wrong if I didn’t say she was a big influence. I had a run in with a lump sum of money and I just decided to invest into myself. I went into the studio and when I made my first song I fell in love. The reaction I got made me feel like I didn’t have a choice but to keep making music, like this is what I was made for. My biggest influence, motivation and idol is Young Thug hands down. I’ve learned so much from him & his music. He has a song for every situation I’ve ever been in.
Tell me a little bit about your new single, HiJeffery.
I actually made HiJeffery for Thug’s birthday, on his birthday. It’s crazy because I didn’t even plan on doing it I was supposed to be finishing up a different song but when I got in there I was just thinking like man today’s Thug’s birthday I have to do something for him I don’t care if he never hears it. I have to pay my respects. I dropped it and the blogs picked it up right away s/o to GambinoThaGoat & Shawn Cotton over at SayCheeseTV
Do you have a upcoming Mixtape or album set to drop?
I have a project dropping titled “AstroWorld” & we’re not calling it a mixtape, album or EP. This is something different, I’m not a typical artist so nothing I do will be typical. I don’t believe in gimmicks but I do believe in being yourself and throughout my career I’ll be expressing myself and who I am in many different ways but mainly through the music. The reason people are gravitating towards me so fast is because I say things that happened or is currently happening in my life & then when people hear the music they realize they been through some of the same things. It’s something they can relate to.
Do you have any more upcoming videos?
I have a video dropping soon for a song titled SkaterBoy I had a lot of fun shooting the video and the song has a very different sound so I’m looking forward to seeing the visual and the response it will get
What are your current thoughts on the music industry?
I love where the music industry is right now, I think it’s up for grabs. You have the artists that are already solidified but anybody can come in & have a big impact. That’s what I like about it most. As long as you have good content you have a fair chance.
What is currently playing on your playlist musically?
I listen to my own music 99% of the time but not just to listen to it I listen to get better. I look for improvements, ways I could’ve said certain things differently & I also listen to make sure I’m not sounding repetitive in my songs. Other than that it’s just Thug really. I’ll listen to an Uzi song every now and then but I don’t ever want to catch myself sounding like these others guys and a lot of that comes from listening to their music. It’ll happen naturally and you won’t even realize it.
Do you have any shows or tour dates?
Right now my team ToTheCoreEntertainment are having conversations about me going on tour with some artists signed to Atlantic. I won’t mention any names because nothing is set in stone. I don’t really know all of the details I leave that to my manager he does a great job handling the business aspect of things I just focus of producing good music.
Appreciate the interview, any last words or shout outs?
